The BBC recently put out an article examining work-life balance, and whether we are approaching it in the right way, or even thinking about it in the right way. (link at the bottom)
Research is suggesting that work-life balance isn’t something we achieve, and then we’re set for life, suggests research by Lupu and Ruiz-Castro[1]. It necessitates regular assessment and response. Lupu and Ruiz-Castro identified five steps that support this process. These steps involve assessing the core beliefs that are feeding into a particular action or the factors that are causing stress, then consider the emotional response. This is followed by examining priorities and whether a particular course of action is worth it to them, then explore alternatives and implement the changes required.
Awareness of your emotional state is essential in order to determine the changes you want to make – Lupu
So what are your next steps? It can be hard to examine your own life and see where underlying assumptions may be flawed, or where stressors are creeping in. It can also be hard to have the confidence to request the changes that you know you need to make, as it will often require accommodation from employers or family members.

If you want a safe environment to explore these concepts and practice what change could feel like then why don’t you book a session with our herd of horses? They are adept at seeking and finding equilibrium and they will show you if your life is out of balance.
